Writer and star, Jason Segel, turns lemons into lemonade in this romantic disaster comedy (produced by the same team responsible for The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked-Up), that's a page torn from Segel's own life. When he gets suddenly and unceremoniously dumped by his longtime girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), composer Peter Bretter (Segel) is nothing short of devastated. Depressed beyond words, he seeks solace in a series of one-night stands, but he remains desperate to win Sarah back. On the advice of his stepbrother, Peter heads off to Hawaii for a much-needed vacation, but he gets even more freaked out when he discovers that Sarah and her new boyfriend, wild and wacky British singing sensation Aldous Snow (comedian Russell Brand), are staying there as well. But... happiness is just around the corner... maybe. Find out the naked truth about the pain of love in this outrageously funny and touchingly sweet movie.

TOP CRITICS'S REVIEWS

Fresh:

-Ben Kenigsberg, Time Out, November 17, 2011

Fresh: If you go into this one with reasonable expectations, you should have a very, very good time at the theater.

-Jeff Otto, Dark Horizons, July 06, 2010

Rotten: Judd Apatow's comedies are always watchable and sometimes hilarious, but with the latest to emerge under his aegis, I have to admit it is getting harder to defend them against the charge of misogyny.

-Peter Bradshaw, Guardian [UK], October 18, 2008

Fresh: With pratfalls, yucks, a crying jag, and what is starting to seem like the requisite flash of nudity, Jason Segel becomes this year's adorably hapless movie schlub.

Watch this movie! It's great! Male nudity, though, so no little ones.

Worth the money
May 22, 2010

I had already owned the original DVD, but when the Unrated version became available, I had to check it out. I am very pleased that I did. I loved the orignial movie and the extras in the unrated DVD, such as the deleted and extended scenes, and the Gag Reel made the purchase well worth the money.
