It doesn't matter where you've been as long as you come back strong.
Soon after a rising young singer-songwriter (Garrett Hedlund, Eragon) gets involved with a fallen, emotionally unstable country star (Gwyneth Paltrow, Iron Man 2), the pair embarks on a career resurrection tour helmed by her husband/manager (Tim McGraw, The Blind Side) and featuring a beauty-queen-turned-singer (Leighton Meester, TV's Gossip Girl).
Between concerts, romantic entanglements and old demons threaten to derail them all.
With its dynamic cast and terrific soundtrack, this is one film that you'll not only love, but there's a strong possibility you'll want to add it to your collection, to watch over and over.
Rotten: The movie has its moments, but the characters are fuzzy around the edges...
-Philip French, Guardian [UK], March 28, 2011Rotten: No saving grace here.
-David Sexton, This is London, March 25, 2011Rotten: For me it's a no.
-Peter Bradshaw, Guardian [UK], March 24, 2011Rotten: Even a Paltrow fan (I remain one) would have to concede that her willowy frame and perfect skin do not betray a lifetime of vodka-swilling and throwing up in hillbilly bars.

Gwenyth Paltrow owns this film. Her performance was a joy to behold, from her acting to every note she sang, she shines. It was a shame that the same could not be said for the film as a whole. I came away disappointed and wanting more! This film just did not hold together, and Gwenyth, as hard as she tried couldn't hold it together on her own. All the acting was adequate, and all the actors were quite professional and generally spot on. I thought newcomer Garrett Hedlund was a particular standout in the cast.Unfortunatly with all the good acting, and the wonderful perfomances by Paltrow and Hedlund, the movie itself seem mediocre. I'm not quite sure what was lacking. It could have been the script's fault or the direction, I'm leaning towards blaming both. It goes to show that a few great performances don't always make for a great film.

I was never a huge fan of Gwyneth Paltrow until I watched her in this movie-Wow!When I found it that she was actually singing(and not lip-synching)I was not only surprised-I was blown away!the whole story is one that I found to be totally believable-and I wonder if bits and pieces of real life are in the "fictional"story this movie tells? Also kudos to her co-stars-both Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester did there own singing as well-I this movie and highly recommend it-even if you're not a big fan of Country music!
